Envelope Lite

Last updated: 29 May 2026

Envelope Lite ("the App," "we," "our," or "us") is a personal budgeting app published by ALASTS. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

Summary

Your transactions, budgets, and financial records are stored locally on your device. We do not sync, upload, or share your financial data with anyone.

To support free distribution of the App, we display advertisements from Google AdMob. With your consent, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show ads relevant to you. You can decline this and see non-personalised ads instead, or revoke consent at any time in Settings.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored on your device and is not transmitted to ALASTS, AdMob, Apple, Google, or any third party:

  • Your monthly income settings
  • Envelope budget amounts
  • Transaction records (amounts, dates, descriptions, categories, tags)
  • Payment source classifications
  • Notification preferences
  • App preferences (for example, quick-action and shortcut settings)

The primary store is a local SQLite database. The optional home-screen widget reads a small summary snapshot (today's spending total, transaction count, monthly totals) from the device's standard key/value storage: UserDefaults on iOS (inside the App's App Group container) and SharedPreferences on Android. Both are local to your device and accessible only to Envelope Lite.

If you uninstall the App, this data is deleted. No account is required to use the App, and no name, email, or phone number is collected.

Data Used for Advertising (with Your Consent)

Envelope Lite displays ads from Google AdMob. Subject to your consent choices, the following data may be collected by AdMob solely for serving and measuring advertisements:

  • Advertising identifier - IDFA on iOS, Google Advertising ID on Android
  • Usage signals - which app screens you view and how often you open the app
  • Approximate location - derived from IP address at city level, not precise GPS
  • Device information - model, operating system version, language

ALASTS does not receive your individual data from AdMob; we receive only aggregated revenue and impression statistics. If you decline personalised advertising, AdMob shows non-personalised ads instead and the advertising identifier is not used to build a profile of you.

Third Parties

The following third parties may handle data through the App:

  • Google AdMob - for advertising (subject to your consent). Google Privacy Policy
  • Apple - for app distribution and anonymous crash diagnostics (iOS users). Apple Privacy Policy
  • Google Play - for app distribution and anonymous crash diagnostics (Android users). Google Privacy Policy

Crash diagnostics provided by Apple and Google to developers are aggregated and not linked to your individual identity.

Permissions

Envelope Lite requests minimal device permissions:

  • Notifications - to send you optional daily reminders (you can disable this in Settings)
  • Exact Alarms (Android) - to schedule notifications at precise times

The App does not access your camera, contacts, precise location, microphone, or storage beyond its own app directory.

Your Consent

When you first launch the App, you will see a consent dialog appropriate to your location:

  • Users in Vietnam - a Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) compliant consent dialog asking about advertising and analytics
  • Users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom - a GDPR-compliant consent dialog provided by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP)
  • Users on iOS in any location - Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt for advertising identifier access

You can change your consent choices at any time:

  • In the App: open Settings, then Privacy and Data
  • On iOS: tracking permission can also be changed in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking

Your Rights

If you are a data subject in Vietnam, under the Personal Data Protection Law (Law 91/2025/QH15) you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data; to withdraw consent at any time; to object to certain processing; and to lodge a complaint with the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security.

If you are a data subject in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, under GDPR Articles 15-22 you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection, and to withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (within 72 hours for urgent PDPL requests, otherwise within 15 working days).

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Google AdMob processes advertising data on servers that may be located outside Vietnam, including in the United States and the European Union. This transfer is authorised under Vietnam PDPL Articles 25-26 on the basis of your consent to the advertising data processing described above.

Data Retention

  • Local financial data - retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App
  • Advertising data - retained by Google per Google's data retention policies, reviewable at policies.google.com
  • Diagnostic data - retained by Apple and Google per their respective policies

Children's Privacy

Envelope Lite is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 16 has used the App and provided consent without parental authorisation, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete the relevant data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the App's data handling changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated in-app at next launch.
